About Representative Turner

Cleon is in his fifth term serving the First Barnstable District of Dennis, Precincts 1 and 2 in Brewster, Precinct 1 in Barnstable and Precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 in Yarmouth. He serves on the House Committee on Personnel and Administration, Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government, Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security, Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development.

Cleon has been active in promoting local issues and is chair of the Regional school Caucus which he created in his first term as a legislator. He and the caucus have proven to be the voice for regional school issues in the state house.

Prior to being elected to the legislature, Cleon was a member of the Dennis Board of Selectmen for nine years and served as chair of that board for five years. He also served on several town committees including the Affordable Housing Committee, the DPW Building Committee, the Committee charged with reviewing candidates for DPW Director and the Assistant Town Administrator among others. He has been a member of the Board of Assessors for twenty years.

Cleon is an attorney who maintains a practice with the firm MacNeill and Fitch in Sandwich and who formerly worked for Sidley and Austin and Naguib as an attorney in Cairo, Egypt, a branch of Sidley and Austin in Chicago. Prior to practicing law, Cleon was a police officer in Dennis holding the rank of Detective Sergeant.

Cleon’s education includes a law degree from Suffolk University Law School, a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Maine and an Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement from the University of Maine.

Cleon is married to Margaret Hill and they have two sons from his previous marriage and two sons from her previous marriage. All their sons went through the Dennis/Yarmouth School system. Two have graduated from Cape Cod Community College and one is currently attending Holyoke Community College. Two continue to live and work on the Cape.
